Peninsula Community Library

Welcome to Peninsula Community Library

Peninsula Community Library is on the beautiful Old Mission Peninsula. The farmhouse style building is set amidst the cherry trees and wineries of northern Michigan.

PCL is an independent township library operating by contract within and a part of the Traverse Area District Library.

Come relax on our front and back porches overlooking wide agricultural vistas.  Located about 8 miles up M-37, the library strives to serve all segments of a diverse rural community by providing access to information and support for personal enrichment in a friendly, welcoming environment.

PCL offers a collection of over 25,000 items including books, periodicals, audio books, movies, puzzles and games.  Services include copier/scanner, laptop computers for use in the library, wireless access and a notary public.  Reference databases are offered to our patrons through the Traverse Area District Library and  the Michigan eLibrary (MeL).  An interactive learning area delights children who visit the library.  Teens have their own space for relaxing, studying and socializing.

Peninsula Community Library's Local History Room includes material of historic value to the area and its people.  Items include early township records, surveyors' maps, photographs, oral histories, postcards, vertical files and more.  The collection is housed in a room that features architectural artifacts from the Johnson Carroll Homestead.  The families were pioneer settlers on the Peninsula.  The collection is available to the public for use within the library and under rules that preserve the fragile nature of the materials.

The Community Room hosts The Century of Service display.  The exhibit features a collection of phones used over 100 years on the Old Mission Peninsula.

Meeting rooms available for public use include a community room, as well as the smaller Friends of Neahtawanta Room.

The John and Sue Kinne Coffee Bar invites people to come on in and relax by the fireplace.

Our active Friends of Peninsula Library group is a great way to become involved in the library.  They host an annual Book Sale among other events.
