Libraries for Life – Thursday, October 10 through Wednesday, October 16, 2019.

On 10/15 at 1 pm, we will host a speaker on organ transplants.

About 3,500 people are waiting for a life-saving organ in Michigan today. Nationwide, the number stands at 118,000. Twenty-two people die each day because an organ transplant was not available in time. There is an especially critical need for kidneys, hearts and livers.

More than 150 libraries across the state will be hosting events to inspire local residents to join the Michigan Organ Donor Registry, educating them on the facts of organ, tissue and eye donation.

All of us have the potential to become a donor, regardless of age or medical conditions. There’s no age limit for organ donation (people in their 100s have become donors). Plan to stop by PCL’s display table during this time frame to pick up educational materials and/or sign up for the Registry.
