Friends of PCL

The Friends of Peninsula Community Library encourages and promotes the support, awareness, appreciation and availability of Library services in our community.  They strive to build realization of the importance of Library facilities to the future development of the area as well as attract gifts and memorials for the benefit of the Library in the community.  It is their goal to encourage residents of the Library's service area and beyond to enjoy and fully utilize the facilities, collections, programming and opportunities offered by the Library.

The Friends of Peninsula Community Library is a 501(c)3 organization.  Annual contributions made to become a member of Friends are tax-deductible to the extent of the law.  Memberships help to provide items and activities for the Library which state and local funding do not cover.

Annual fundraisers include:

Bayshore Marathon the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend

Friends & Fine Editions Used Book Sale in July

Local Artist's Fair First Saturday of Book Sale

Money earned from memberships and fundraisers has purchased subscriptions to The Traverse City Record-Eagle, The Wall Street Journal, brought in interesting speakers and dynamic performers, paid for summer reading clubs for patrons of all ages, purchased equipment and collection items, provided gift certificates for books to underprivileged students, and more.  Most recently, the Friends are funding the digitization of the Library's historical collection so that all may access its local treasures.

Volunteers also work in the library shelving books, keep our garden beds looking beautiful, prepare craft supplies for programming, and, of course, enjoy each others company at meetings and Friends only social events.

Friends meetings are held four times a year.  Call the library at 223-7700 for more information.  You may become a Friend of Peninsula Community Library by filling out the attached form and mailing it with your check to the library at the address on the form.
